Verpleegkundige

Your job
Do you want to give people real attention as a nurse? Would you prefer not to constantly rush from task to task, but instead have the time to show your social side as well? Are you looking for an enjoyable position where you can work as a nurse outside regular healthcare, while maintaining a healthy work–life balance? At Wageningen University & Research, we have a vacancy for a nurse on an on-call basis. Would you like to strengthen our team?
Please note: fluency in Dutch is a must have for this position given the interaction with non-english speaking participants.
What will you do?
In addition to providing theoretical education to students, Wageningen University & Research also offers practical education through research. Within the Human Nutrition and Health group, studies are conducted with human participants. These participants donate blood during the various studies. Biopsies may also be taken for analysis, and placing an IV line is part of the work as well. We are therefore looking for a nurse who can help participants feel at ease by having a conversation, explaining what they can expect, and answering any questions they may have.
You will be one of the “faces” of the facility for participants. You will work as part of a team that includes a physician, nurses, and dietitians. The research takes place in an academic environment, and you will regularly interact with PhD candidates and students who conduct studies as part of their work or education.
Your qualities
- you have completed at least an MBO level 4 nursing education and hold a BIG registration as a nurse;
- you are qualified and competent in placing IV lines and drawing blood via IV or venipuncture;
- you are able to perform nursing procedures under time pressure and do not mind repeating procedures frequently;
- you work well in a team and are accurate and careful in your work;
- you communicate in a clear and pleasant way with colleagues and participants in Dutch.
Working Hours
The studies are conducted during regular working hours. However, it may occasionally be necessary to draw blood from participants early in the morning around 07:00. Therefore, flexible working hours are also part of the role.
This position is offered on an on-call basis.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B1.
Given the fact that this position is on-call basis, it is not possible to obtain a work permit for this position.
We offer
Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
- sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
- working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
- there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
- a fixed year-end bonus of 8.3%;
- excellent pension scheme.
In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3029,- and €3623,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 6). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract on ‘on call basis’ that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
