Applications Neys-van Hoogstraten Fonds

The Neys - van Hoogstraten Fund promotes socioeconomic research with a gender lens on food security of households and nutritional security of vulnerable groups in a number of countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Who is eligible

MSc students, PhD candidates, and postdocs from Wageningen University & Research can apply if their research meets the objectives of the fund. Preference is given to interdisciplinary research and research involving a research institute in the region. All research projects should take gender aspects into account.

Which costs are eligible

Eligible research costs include:

  • Researcher's costs: International travel costs to and from the research location; travel and accommodation costs in the country and location of the study.
  • Cost of data collection: travel costs, daily allowances and payment of interviewers, salary and travel costs of a local research assistant.
  • Cost of data analysis: costs of laboratory research, statistical support.
  • Supervision costs: Only for PhD research the travel and accommodation costs of a visit by the WUR supervisor/promoter to the research location during the research.
  • Costs of dissemination results: Upon successful completion of the research, the costs of a local seminar with the stakeholders, a possible contribution to the costs of a publication in an international scientific journal, and/or contribution to the costs of participating in an international conference in the context of presenting the results of the research.
  • The maximum support from the fund for MSc research is 6,000 euros, for PhD/postdoc research it is 25,000 euros.

How can I apply?

Fill in the application form below. Applications can be submitted throughout the year. Incoming applications are assessed once a month. Please submit your proposal at least one month before the start of your project.

Dissemination of results to local stakeholders is also a requirement. For this, a dissemination plan should be submitted alongside the research proposal.
