My PhD project was part of the STW -Breed4Food partnership "From sequence to detecting deleterious variation by prediction of functionality" consortium and we aimed to identify and predict deleterious genetic variation in various livestock populations. We use the wealth of genomic data currently produced from the breeding industry to make direct predictions of deleterious variation and corresponding phenotypic consequences, mainly in commercial pig and chicken breeds.
Current research focusses on identifying functional variation in livestock (especially pigs)
