For the 10th consecutive year, Wageningen University is the best university for full-time education in The Netherlands. "The education at this university has been towering head and shoulders above the rest", according to the study guide 'Keuzegids Universiteiten 2015', a publication of the Centre for Higher Education Information (C.H.O.I).
Best university, 14 top programmes
Besides being declared the 'Best University for full-time education in The Netherlands', Wageningen University also saw all its study programmes get good reviews. Out of the 19 bachelor programmes, 14 were qualified as 'Top-quality programme' by the Keuzegids, which was published on 28 October 2014. In the whole of The Netherlands, 61 programmes have been qualified as 'Top-quality programmes', so that means almost a quarter of them are in Wageningen. Top-quality means that they were given a score of 76 or higher (out of 100). All programmes were rated by education experts and students. The two courses with the highest scores in the Netherlands are the Wageningen University bachelor programmes Plant Sciences and International Land and Water Management (both with a score of 94 out of 100).
Open University scores best for parttime education
Wageningen University gets an overall score of 74. It has to be said that this year, for the first time, the Open University - which offers part-time online courses - gets a higher score (74.5 points) than Wageningen University. However, Keuzegids states: "For full-time students Wageningen remains the university that offers by far the best educational quality." It therefore awards Wageningen the title 'Best University for full-time education 2015'.
Worldwide best in Agricultural research
International rankings also show that Wageningen University delivers education and research of world-class quality. In 2013 and 2014, Wageningen UR (University & Research centre) was placed first on the National Taiwan University Ranking in the category Agriculture, ahead of the American universities UC Davis and Cornell. And on the American QS World Universities Rankings Wageningen takes the second place in the category Agriculture & Forestry and the eighth place in the category Environmental Sciences.
