My project aims to develop tools and applications to predict deleterious variation from livestock populations. I am specialized in identifying genomic variation that causes early lethality in livestock breeds and predicting the causal mutation from genomics and transcriptomics data.  Examples include genomic variation that causes fetal death (i.e. causing mummification in pig breeds) as well as mutations that cause embryonic lethality. Together, our project facilitates monitoring of deleterious mutations, avoiding at-risk matings and thereby improving production and animal welfare

I have a background in Bioinformatics (BSc, and MSc), specialised in analysing and integrating different types of ~omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics), population genetics, and deleterious genetic variation. Moreover, I have extensive experience in comparative genomics, genome assembly and genome annotation.
