About the Instructors:

Dr. Bert Weltens studied English linguistics and has a PhD in applied linguistics. Dr. Weltens is a former assistant professor at Radboud University and is currently on the staff at VU University in Amsterdam. He has supervised numerous student theses and several PhD projects, published articles in prestigious journals, and co-authored and co-edited several books. Dr. Weltens is also a language consultant for the Dutch national exam board and the general editor of the Dutch Journal of Applied Linguistics.


Dr. Curtis F. Barrett received his PhD in neuroscience and physiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Following his postdoctoral work at Stanford University, Dr. Barrett brought his research to the Netherlands, working as a group leader at Leiden University Medical Center. Dr. Barrett has published in high-impact journals and has authored several book chapters, and he currently serves as a peer reviewer for many journals.
