COP27 side event: Climate- and Water-Smart Agriculture: From the Netherlands and Egypt to the World

Changing climate and socio-economic development increase the pressure on natural resources and the food systems. To ensure sufficient food production, while simultaneously decrease green house gas emissions, improve biodiversity, and water resource management Climate- and Water-Smart Agriculture (CaWSA) practices are needed. Egypt and the Netherlands are two countries with a different history in agriculture and different challenges to deal with. However, there are many similarities between the two countries. Together we are learning from each other and move towards a sustainable food system.

In this session WUR highlights solutions and challenges for a transition to Climate- and Water-Smart Agriculture. A small movie is developed for this session to demonstrate possibilities for climate and water-smart agriculture.

After the presentation a panel reflects on the track record, ambitions, and challenges of Climate- and Water-Smart Agriculture. The panellists are:
