Humans were born from clay. All over the world, people tell variations of this creation story. Surprisingly, modern science seems to confirm these widespread stories.
Imagine that clay really is our earliest ancestor. The work Grandmother Clay asks you to feel this possibility and to connect with her (again).
The photographs on display in the garden room were taken by small groups of people who gathered at the 't Soete Zod estate. They created the images from the clay beneath their hands. Then they photographed the images and searched for words together. Finally, they placed the images under the old birch tree on the sacred land of the 't Soete Zod estate. There, the images were allowed to dissolve back into the earth.
Now the photographs and words hang in Impulse's Speakers Corner as an invitation to continue the conversation about Grandmother Clay.
