Humans were born from clay. All over the world, people tell variations of this creation story. Surprisingly, modern science seems to confirm these widespread stories.
Imagine that clay really is our earliest ancestor. The work Grandmother Clay asks you to feel this possibility and to connect with her (again).
The photographs on display in the garden room were taken by small groups of people who gathered at the 't Soete Zod estate. They created the sculptures from the clay beneath their hands. They then photographed the sculptures and searched for words together. Finally, they placed the images under the old birch tree on the sacred land of the 't Soete Zod estate. There, the images were allowed to dissolve back into the earth.
In February and March of this year, the photographs and words will be displayed in Impulse's Speakers Corner as an invitation to continue the conversation about Grandmother Clay.
