On Wednesday 18 March 2026, municipal council elections will take place across the Netherlands. During these elections, residents decide who will take seats on the municipal council and make decisions on issues that directly affect our local environment and organisation, including housing and urban development, mobility, (youth) care and local taxation.

During these elections, residents decide who will take seats on the municipal council and make decisions on issues that directly affect our local environment and organisation, including housing and urban development, mobility, (youth) care and local taxation.

Wageningen University & Research (WUR) will host a municipal council elections debate on Tuesday 17 March in the Impulse building. Representatives from the following political parties will take part in the debate:

  •    GroenLinks–PvdA
  • Stadspartij Wageningen
  • D66
  • Volt Nederland (Connect–Volt)
  • ChristenUnie
  • CDA
  • Partij voor de Dieren


The debate offers an opportunity to gain deeper insight into party positions, compare perspectives and hear how parties plan to address key local challenges.

After the debate, you are warmly invited to stay for drinks and informal discussion.
