On Wednesday 23 September, the exhibition Mariet de Geus: Drawn with Passion will open at Speakers Corner in Impulse, Wageningen Campus.
Botanical illustrations have long played an important role in the study and description of plants. They capture details that can be difficult to describe in words or document through photography alone.
Mariet de Geus (1934-) worked as a botanical illustrator for Wageningen University's Biosystematics group from 1970 to 1985. The exhibition presents a selection of her botanical drawings and illustrations created for WUR, alongside work produced for other clients.
During the opening, landscape architect Frits Ruyten will share insights into the work of Mariet de Geus and her lifelong passion for botanical illustration.
