Trending Dragonflies: Assessing and explaining trends and threats on different scales
Summary
This PhD research describes how trends in the distribution of dragonflies can be assessed based on citizen science data collected without a standardized field protocol. Subsequently, it was investigated how dragonfly species are doing on a Dutch and European scale, what the main causes for their trends are and how these causes have changed over time. This leads to insights into the protection of dragonflies and their habitats and into the use of dragonflies as indicators of freshwater habitat quality.
