As tenure tracker you interact with students, PhDs, postdocs, colleagues, collaborators, your boss, and more. These interactions are hopefully fun most of the time, but can also become very unpleasant when there is a misunderstanding or conflict. In this workshop you will learn how to reconnect in such situations by using compassionate communication.

Compassionate communication (based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg) helps to create connection, even, and especially, in a situation where there is misunderstanding or conflict. Compassionate communication takes it as a starting point that every individual has the same set of needs. So needs are universal, and everything one does or says is a way of meeting these needs. Compassionate communication enables to truly listen to ourselves and others so we can come up with joint solutions meeting the needs of all involved.

During this workshop we will focus on feedback and increasing awareness about the impact our words may have. You will be work with an own situation where communication did not go the way you wanted and where you would like to give feedback. The workshop is facilitated by Suzanne Nederlof from EmpaTilya (www.empatilya.nl).
