Going for the BBI-JU open call for bio-based flagship innovations? What about consumer & sustainable impact?
The Call is dedicated to Innovation Actions ("Flagships"), and focuses on lignocellulosic feedstock (BBI Value Chain 1), valorisation of cellulose (BBI Value Chain 2) and innovative processes for sugar recovery and conversion from Municipal Solid Waste (BBI Value Chain 4).
The EU emphasises the need for attention to specific socio-economic items in the proposal: market demand, customer awareness and cross-sectorial integration along and across value chains are critical components within this call. The proposal therefore requires a thorough and sophisticated written paragraph on the socio-economic aspects. This greatly increases the chance of approval of the proposal.
Social, economic and technical knowledge
In our opinion, socio-economic research is a scientific expertise and projects have the greatest impact when social, economic and technical knowledge go hand in hand. LEI Wageningen UR is an independent and internationally leading socio-economic research institute with extensive experience in European research projects and works together with technical research institutes on these topics. LEI’s strength lies within issues such as consumer research, economic impact, availability of agro-raw material, cost price scenarios and sustainability impact and integral sustainability assessments. Within projects such as Open-BIO, EnReMilk and SAT-BBE we are valued for our expertise.
