Dijkgraaf chair supervisory board Wageningen University & Research
The ministers of OCW and LNV have appointed Professor Elbert Dijkgraaf (1970) as chair of the Supervisory Board of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) from 1 December 2022. Dijkgraaf succeeds Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who was installed as mayor of Eindhoven on 13 September 2022.
Dijkgraaf is a Dutch economist and professor of 'Empirical Economics of the Public Sector' at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was a member of parliament for the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij from 17 June 2010 to 10 April 2018. The Supervisory Board is particularly pleased with the appointment of Dijkgraaf, who has been a member of WUR's Supervisory Board since 1 March 2021.
About his appointment, Dijkgraaf says: "I am happy to build on the good foundation left by Jeroen Dijsselbloem and, as Supervisory Board, we are very grateful to him for the expert way he has led the Supervisory Board. The challenge for the future is that in 10 years' time, we will still be leading in the field of agro food & environment. Both in the field of research and education, WUR plays an important role, developing and sharing innovations and knowledge in our domain through education, dialogue, and cooperation. As chairman of the Supervisory Board, it is wonderful to be able to contribute to the most sustainable university in the world."
