Science-policy collaborations for nature-based solutions in the city
Presentations from webinar held on 11 June are now freely available.
Across the globe, nature-based solutions are developed and implemented, initiated by municipalities, businesses, and active citizens. Given their contribution to multiple sustainability goals -- including climate change adaptation, biodiversity, health and well-being, social cohesion and cultural diversity -- the need for mainstreaming NBS in cities has been expressed. Collaborations between science and practice can contribute to the mainstreaming of NBS.
On Friday 11 June 2021, Wageningen University and TU-Delft organised a webinar on collaborations between science and policy. Presentations and discussions focused on inspiration from global NBS-examples (Cecil Konijnendijk), the need for strategic collaboration between institutionalised actors and active citizens though mosaic governance (Arjen Buijs) and examples of student project for science-policy interaction on urban ecology (Nico Tillie).
In break-out sessions, we organised discussions about the Trees First approach implemented on the Slachthuisplein in The Hague, SP webinar presentation on Urban Regional Innovation Plans in Utrecht, The Internet of Nature, and Nature-Based Solutions with Social housing agencies.
