New article: Plasticity of maternal environment-dependent expression-QTLs of tomato seeds
Environment matters. In this publication we show that the maternal environment (high phosphorus or low nitrogen) has an impact on gene expression in dry seeds. We show that seeds harvested of plants of a recombinant inbred line population, show distinct expression regulation patterns dependent on which cultivar genomic loci were inherited from.
We used eQTL mapping to identify loci linked to plasticity in responsiveness to the environment. Combined with phenotypic information, these patterns could be used to identify genes or loci involved in resilience against stressful environments.
