Sensing a Changing World

My research mission is to investigate integrated sensing approaches to develop and understand sustainable plant production systems. Integrated solutions combine UAV and satellite sensing, active canopy measurements, field observations, machine learning and crop growth modelling to improve agricultural resource management and protect the environment. 

With my research team, we aim to develop advanced multi-sensor systems which combined with machine learning approaches can retrieve traits of individual plants. The current challenges are to take advantage of enhanced spatial, temporal, and spectral capabilities of the new generation of sensors, which allow retrieval of plant traits ranging from as simple as plant height to complex photosynthesis related traits like Sun Induced Fluorescence (SIF).
