Maria Paula holds a BSc in Forest Engineering and completed her MSc degree in Forestry Science/Forest Management in 2021 at Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Brazil.

During this period, she conducted research projects with the Environmental Economics and Forest Management Group (GEEA) on various topics including greenhouse gas (GHG) neutralization, forest restoration, sylvipastoral systems, carbon sequestration in forest biomass and necromass, tropical forest structure and dynamics, as well as environmental-plant and animal-plant interactions.

Currently, Paula is a PhD Candidate at the Forest Ecology and Forest Management Group at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and in the GEEA at UFV. Her PhD project focuses on assessing the relationship between the reintroduced population of an endangered bird species and forest regeneration in the Brazilian Atlantic forest.
