Yazhen Wu is an external PhD candidate at the Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy Group (AEP) of Wageningen University. She holds an MSc degree in Environmental Sciences from Peking University, China, where she also obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Economics.

Her work and research experience focus on the environmental and economic co-benefits and trade-offs of global and regional climate change mitigation pathways, especially the impacts of land-based mitigation strategies in the context of deep decarbonisation targets. In her PhD study, she focuses on assessing the feasibility and cross-system impacts of land sector mitigation pathways, and on identifying the land-based mitigation strategies that simultaneously achieve multiple sustainability targets.
