Health Research Unit: Clinical Research on Nutrition

Discover unique opportunities to conduct clinical trials on foods and supplements in our collaboration with the Health Research Unit. We scientifically validate the (health) effects of products and ingredients through our studies.

Our research spans both short-term experiments in which we focus on absorption, and longer studies lasting up to several months. These studies can take place in controlled environments at our facilities, as well as in participants' homes. If needed, we can even fully control and monitor the diets of our test subjects.

With a database of around 4,000 test subjects from diverse backgrounds, we efficiently recruit from specific target groups, ensuring representative samples for thoroughly mapping nutritional effects.

For example, Wageningen Food & Biobased Research investigates how amino acids from various protein sources, such as those derived from residual flows, are absorbed by the body. We also conduct long-term studies on the health implications of specific foods, supplements, or dietary patterns. Learn more about our clinical nutritional trials here.

Our goal is to assist companies and organizations in the food industry in setting up and conducting scientific nutritional research. As part of Wageningen University & Research, we benefit from close collaboration with other research institutes, making it easy to access experts in related fields.
