In the event of terrorist threats, environmental, radiation or food incidents, such as a major fire or food contamination, Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) is available 24/7 to support the government with advice and, if necessary, analyses.
We have a flexible organisation and can rapidly scale up our analytical capacity and start analysing samples within two hours. We also conduct forensic investigations to determine the origin and nature of possible contaminants. WFSR's experts work closely with other parties, such as the Environmental Incident Service of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), so that swift and careful action can be taken to limit risks to humans, animals and the environment. In this way, WFSR makes an essential contribution to a safe food chain and a healthy living environment.
