Taste Lessons is the leading food education programme for primary schools. Children discover in a playful and hands-on way where food comes from, what it tastes like, and what healthy eating means.
About Taste Lessons
Childhood overweight and obesity are increasing in the Netherlands. That makes it essential to promote healthy eating habits from an early age. Taste Lessons helps to do just that. The programme makes food education practical and engaging through activities such as gardening, cooking, tasting and exploring. This way, children experience for themselves where food comes from, how it tastes, and how to make healthier choices.
Taste Lessons is fully aligned with national curriculum standards. It introduces children to taste development, consumer skills, healthy and sustainable eating, and cooking in an interactive way. Teaching materials are available for primary schools, special education, childcare and after-school programmes. Teachers can choose from flexible modules to fit their needs. Through the digital portal Chef!, schools have access to all materials, and physical teaching kits can also be ordered.
By combining knowledge with experience, children retain what they learn more effectively. These skills and experiences help them make healthier and more sustainable food choices later in life.

Taste Lessons is a food education programme that targets elementary school children and provides fun, interactive information about nutrition, health and sustainability. Children engage with the teaching material by actively participating.
