Multi-layer governance of Natural Heritage Sites in Developing countries

Natural heritage sites are designated in the favour of recognizing and protecting their natural values. However, it has been proved that, in developing countries, the designation is not homogeneously viewed by all involved and concerned actors. Actually, after being inscripted, natural heritage sites are often seen to expose to conflicting demands of conservation, economic development and social equity. This project aims to investigate the multi-layer governance at these Natural Heritages where it focuses on the clusters of power relations and interactions between actors, which then raises the main concern towards the premise of balancing natural conservation and development at these sites.
