Setting Strategy and Evaluating the Competitiveness of Value Chains

As competition has taken place more and more among value chains rather than only among individual firms, many funding and research institutions have turned to value chain approaches to identify local development alternatives. Thus, this research intends to develop an economic model that connects the behaviour of a piece of an agribusiness value chain in a territory, to its performance, measured by a set of selected indicators. The model will be tested on streams of the honey value chain in Brazil, and should help the conception of strategies as well as the evaluation of agribusiness value chain competitiveness. It could also be used to analyse local development alternatives.
