Your job

As a combined Functional and Technical Application Manager in the Servicedesk IT team, you work closely together with users, suppliers and IT-colleagues. You’re responsible for management, continuity and ongoing development of applications such as Jira, Confluence and eLabJournal.

You translate functional user demands into solutions that fit the technical/operational scope of application stability, safety and availability. As such, you combine the functional and technical management of the applications you’re responsible for.

What we expect:

  • you apply regular upgrades, patches and changes;
  • you test new functionality and provide active support for this to key-users and users alike;
  • you manage existing application integrations and provide support for new integrations;
  • you provide technical support to users so that they can make the most of the application;
  • you use scripting to automate repeating tasks;
  • you’re no stranger to working according to Agile/scrum methodology to provide a flexible, continuously improving service.

First, your focus will be on managing Jira, Confluence and eLabJournal. At a later stage, you can further develop your skills to become a specialist for different applications and technical platforms.

You will work here

Our IT department was named the best ICT employer in the non-ICT sector in 2024 and, with 200 employees, provides a modern ICT environment for education and research. This means plenty of development and career opportunities for specialists at various levels.

Your qualities

You combine strong communication with analytical precision and are energized by improving applications and services. You easily bridge the gap between users and technology, making complex technical issues understandable for diverse audiences.

You are a proactive, customer-oriented, and independent self-starter. You prioritize the quality, security, and continuity of your services, and actively contribute towards improving their standardization, automation, and innovation. You identify technical issues at an early stage and propose well-considered solutions. You enjoy collaborating within a multidisciplinary Agile team and are constantly seeking opportunities for improvement..

You bring to the plate:

  • a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking; a completed HBO degree in ICT is preferred;
  • experience with functional and technical application management;
  • experience with Jira/Confluence or the ambition to specialize in these software tools;
  • knowledge of Linux (RHEL-9) or a clear ambition to learn it;
  • experience with scripting (JavaScript, PowerShell, SQL, XML, HTML, Velocity) and tooling (Excel) to automate management processes;
  • a good sense of humor to keep things in perspective.

What if your knowledge falls short on a couple of our shortlist demands but you do possess the right competences and a profound desire to expand your knowledge? We offer ample opportunity to supplement your knowledge to become a specialist within our team.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level B2.
