Become a Project Controller at Wageningen University & Research (WUR)!
As a Project Controller, you will be part of an enthusiastic Finance & Control (F&C) department and be responsible for the administration and financial management of (subsidised) (research) projects. From budgeting to final settlement, you translate research into financial insights. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues on various aspects of project control, safeguarding processes to minimise risks.
The departments offer a pleasant, driven, and open working atmosphere with attention to a good work-life balance. In addition to the Project Control team, the F&C department also includes the teams Financial Administration, Business Control, and Chair Group Administration.
What to expect as a Project Controller:
- you are the financial point of contact for project leaders and offer both solicited and unsolicited advice;
- you are responsible for determining project results for monthly and yearly reporting, both internally and externally (e.g. annual accounts);
- you contribute to identifying and monitoring project risks and support internal control measures;
- you work closely with colleagues from the back office and financial administration.
Your qualities
- We ask that you have:
- a higher professional education (HBO), preferably in business economics, business administration, accountancy, or a related field;
- strong financial and analytical skills;
- a customer- and quality-oriented mindset;
- strong communication skills, enabling you to bridge the gap between project leaders and F&C;
- a good command of both Dutch and English.
You also recognise these qualities in yourself: you take initiative, act with integrity, are accurate, and are always looking for opportunities to grow professionally.
In our international working environment, English is increasingly used. For this position, a B2 language level is expected. If you do not yet meet this level, we will support you via our language centre Wageningen in’to Language.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3.482,- and €4.929,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). Additionally, For this role a parttime contract of 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
