Are you an enthusiastic, proactive connector who wants to help further develop the Open Science Community Wageningen (OSC-W) and the Open Science & Education (OSE) programme of Wageningen University & Research? Then we are looking for you!

The OSC-W is an independent bottom-up community of researchers and teachers that wants to stimulate the transparency, accessibility and reproducibility of (Open) Science. The OSC-W is a platform for open science newcomers and experienced researchers, to inspire each other and embed open science practices and values in their workflows, provide feedback on policies, infrastructure, and support services.

The aim of the OSE programme is to make Open Science & Education the standard practice. By opening up research and education, we create more scientific impact, bring scientific knowledge to society, and provide solutions to societal challenges.

Both the OSC-W and the OSE programme have been active for several years and are working together on a growing number of fronts. It is now time to take the next step and continue to grow, connect and put the community and the programme further on the map. A community manager is required for this.
As Community Manager Open Science & Open Education you will:

• Further build a community that encompasses the different disciplines and research institutes of Wageningen;
• Network with stakeholders, visit groups and provide information about the OSC-W and the OSE programme;
• Organize activities such as workshops, seminars, events that promote various open science practices at WUR and NIOO-KNAW. Identify interesting topics and contact potential speakers for these activities;
• Develop a strategy for a coherent programme of training activities and identify interesting topics;
• Exchange experiences and knowledge with other OSC communities in the Netherlands and abroad;
• Facilitate that training materials (knowledge clips, lectures, software, protocols for open hardware or citizen science) are easy to find and accessible in a way that current and future members can easily maintain, within the WUR (and NIOO-KNAW) digital infrastructure;
• Posting news items and writing content on the community pages.

All activities will be performed in close collaboration with the OSC-W core team, the OSE programme and relevant stakeholders and centres of WUR and NIOO-KNAW. Your work will be supported by a student-assistant.
 

Your qualities

Your Qualities
We are searching for a proactive and independent community manager with excellent communication and organization skills. Someone who is an active networker who can recognize opportunities and convert them into activities. Convince us with examples that you are the person we are searching for.
Furthermore, you are/have

• Affinity with Social media;
• Experience with scientific research at PhD-level, preferable you obtained a PhD;
• Familiarity with the science domains at WUR;
• Affinity with Open Science and Open Education;
• Good command of English, command of Dutch is an advantage.

You will work here
As Community Manager Open Science & Open Education you will work in close collaboration with the OSC-W core team and the OSE programme. Your work is done from WUR Library, located within the Forum Building at the centre of the Wageningen campus. With 66 employees, WUR Library provides a robust information service for education and research. WUR Library has been supporting the development towards open science and education for years and it is one of the main topics of the multi-year plan 2024-2028.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3226 and €5090 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). We offer a position for 24 hours a week and the minimum of 20 hours can be discussed. We offer you a contract for a maximum of 3 years, since this is a temporary position. Of course, we would be happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions.
