Biografie

Biografie

Daphne van der Bend is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Consumption & Healthy Lifestyles (CHL) group at Wageningen University & Research, working on the European FOOD-FRAMES project since April 2026. She holds an MSc in Nutrition & Health (specialisation Epidemiology & Public Health) from Wageningen University and completed a Dual Award PhD between Wageningen University & Research and the University of Newcastle (Australia). During her PhD, she investigated the effects of social media food marketing on adolescents in the Netherlands and Australia using a combination of content analyses, qualitative interviews, and experimental research.

Daphne's research interests include public health nutrition and consumer behaviour, particularly the role of nutrition-related mis- or disinformation and food marketing in shaping consumers’ attitudes, beliefs, and dietary behaviours.

Within FOOD-FRAMES, Daphne contributes to research on food information environments (FIEs), including food marketing, nutrition-related mis- or disinformation, narratives, and responsiblity framing across online and offline media. The FOOD-FRAMES project aims to generate evidence and policy recommendations to help create FIEs that support healthier and more sustainable food choices.
