Biografie

Biografie

I am an assistant professor at the Plant Productions Systems Group and at the Centre for Crop Systems Analysis on the ecophysiology of tropical perennial crops (cocoa and coffee). My research interests are broad, ranging from the ecophysiology of perennials, towards the design of climate-smart production systems and the assessment of ecosystem services that agroforestry systems provide. I combine field measurements with crop growth models, statistical models, and spatial datasets. Current projects focus on cocoa ecophysiology, explaining cocoa yield variation, cocoa crop growth modelling, and on the provision of ecosystem services by agroforestry systems.

I have a background in tropical forest ecology. In the past, I worked on various themes: (1) individual tree responses to resource levels, (2) continental-scale patterns in tropical forest dynamics, and (3) the production of wall-to-wall maps of forest ecosystem services to support policy decisions on climate change mitigation and tropical forest restoration.
