dr. G (Ghazal) Tavakoli Gheinani

Ghazal Tavakoli was born in 1987 in Iran. She has a strong background in organic chemistry and catalysis. She defended her PhD thesis in 2017 where she worked mainly on the synthesis of new transition metal-based catalysts and their applications in different organic transformations. 

In 2018, she was awarded by the Alexander van Hombuldt scholarship (Germany) for doing her postdoctoral researches in University of Cologne. The main focus of her research during this two years was on transition metal-catalyzed hydrogen production and hydrogenation reactions. 

Afterwards she worked at CAT catlytic center, the research facility of Covestro AG (Aachen, Germany) as team leader. Since April 2022, she joined Wageningen Food and Bio-based Research (WFBR) where she works as project leader/ scientist.
