Biografie

Biografie

I am an Assistant Professor in Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality Management within the Department of Environmental Sciences. My research centers on tipping points and resilience in complex systems – how ecosystems, societies, and even human minds can suddenly shift to alternative states, and how early signals may reveal when resilience is declining. I develop and test models and statistical tools to detect such changes from monitoring data, with a particular focus on spatially extended and networked systems where local interactions shape broader dynamics.

I work closely with researchers across disciplines, including ecology, psychology, aging, epidemiology, and data science, to apply and refine resilience concepts in real-world systems. Through this combination of theoretical development and interdisciplinary collaboration, I aim to advance a more general understanding of resilience and its role in shaping complex systems.
