dr. J (Jerry) Maroulis

Since March 2019, I relocated to New Zealand and I am working as Manager of the Centre for Learning & Teaching at Lincoln University in Christchurch, New Zealand. I have worked as a lecturer at Wageningen University in the Soil Physics and Land Management (SLM) Group since 2012, after moving from Australia to live and work in the Netherlands. In 2001 I obtained my PhD at the University of Wollongong in fluvial geomorphology working on semi-arid, low-gradient river systems in central Australia. I was the co-director and the deputy director of the Australian Center for Sustainable River Basins (ACSC) research center at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in Toowoomba, Queensland from 2007-2010 and I am currently a USQ Associate Professor. I also worked as a senior environmental consultant with Landloch in 2010-11, focusing primarily on a number of soil erosion based research consultancies for a number of mining companies and government agencies. With regard to education, I worked in the Faculty of Education at USQ between 1993-2011, during which I developed a plethora of course materials and taught many thousands of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a number of delivery modes, including the traditional face-to-face - face, flexible delivery, external pressure, and hybrid modes. I was also awarded USQ teaching awards at both the faculty and university levels for creative approaches to online and student-centered teaching practices and was recognized as a USQ Teaching Fellow. I also worked in Toowoomba as a secondary school teacher and also as an erosion researcher/modeller with the Queensland Government and obtained my MSc (Hons) from Wollongong University and BSc (Hons) from the University of Sydney.
