dr. M (Mahrooz) Rezaei

I am specialized in soil wind erosion and lead a team of young researchers working on pollutant transport across the soil-atmosphere continuum. My research focuses on bridging the gap at the interface of soil and atmospheric sciences, which is why I work at two chairgroups of Wageningen University, Soil Physics and Land Management (SLM) and Meteorology and Air Quality (MAQ).

I currently coordinate two large EU-funded projects: SOILPROM (€7 million) and EUROSION (€12 million). In SOILPROM, together with the 12 partners across Europe, we work on modelling pollutant transport across the soil-water-atmosphere continuum to support stakeholders towards sustainable land management strategies. In EUROSION, together with 24 partners across Europe and associated countries, we focus on European soil erosion monitoring and modelling network for sustainable agricultural land management.

I also lead an NWO project focusing on Plastic Aerosols where we use wind tunnel experiments and modelling to explain the physical behaviors of plastic particles and better predict their motion in the atmosphere.

In addition to my research activities, I teach in several BSc and MSc courses and I coordinate the online MOOC course on plastic pollution in soil, water, and air: from small particles to great solutions, as well as the Minor on plastics in the environment and society.
