dr. PL (Long) Hoang
Biografie
Long Hoang (long.hoang[at]wur.nl) is a multidisciplinary researcher who works in, and across the fields of hydrology, resources management and climate science. With a long career track at the university, he is currently working at the Earth Systems and Global Change group as senior affiliated researcher, combining research with industry and technical advisory services. His key scientific interest interest is to utilize knowledge from these fields to address some of the contemporary water-related problems faced by today’s societies. His work focuses on, but not limited to, climate change impacts on water resources, sustainable food production, and water hazards including floods and droughts. Long’s research and technical advisory work covers an international portfolio with experience in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Yemen and more. His current research lines include:
River delta and coastal marine: Strategic delta planning and management, hydrological process
Hydrology: Hydrological modelling, catchment processes, floods, droughts
Climate change and climate services: Seasonal climate forecast, climate change, climate impacts and risks, adaptation, tailor-made hydro-climatic forecasts
Water resources management: Integrated management and strategic planning
