As a microbial physiologist with a biotechnology background, my research interests are related to the fundamental understanding of microbial physiology and the potential biotechnological applications.

My scientific work has a strong focus on fundamentals and applications of anaerobic microbes, focussing specifically on topics like gas fermentation, microbial metal reduction and anaerobic microbial interactions. With my research I aim to fundamentally understand these processes to improve our fundamental understanding of these microbes and potentially form new concepts for developping biotechnological processes.
