As a marine biologist specializing in benthic ecology, my research revolves around investigating biodiversity on (hard) substrates within the North Sea and Wadden Sea. Currently, I am focusing on utilizing remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), often referred to as "underwater drones", for ecological monitoring purposes. I am exploring the potential applications of these innovative monitoring techniques across diverse areas, including aquaculture for mussel and seaweed cultivation, studying oyster banks, and assessing artificial substrates such as shipwrecks, offshore wind farms, and oil and gas platforms.
