Andrea Pacheco is a Honduran, interdisciplinary environmental scientist, currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at FNP.

Most recently, she was a part of the CLEVER project at the University of Bonn, and worked on the IPBES Nexus Assessment as a fellow from 2022-2024. She has a bachelor’s in international development studies, a master’s on Management and Conservation of Tropical Forests and Biodiversity from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) in Costa Rica, and a PhD in Environmental Economics and Macroecology from the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv), in Leipzig, Germany.

Her overarching research interest is in improving our understanding of how humans impact the environment and biodiversity, in particular for tropical settings in the global south. She typically works within the framework of land-system science (e.g. land governance, land-tenure, environmental policies), and uses causal-inference methods (impact evaluation), spatial analysis, and synthesis methods in her research.
