Marnix Stortelder, MSc
PhD Candidate – Human Nutrition & Health
Marnix Stortelder is a PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research, working in collaboration between the chair groups Global Nutrition and Human and Animal Physiology (HAP). His research focuses on the digestion and amino acid availability of plant- and animal-derived proteins, and their effects on muscle protein synthesis and postprandial metabolism.
He obtained his MSc in Nutrition and Health (Nutritional Physiology) from WUR, where his thesis examined the impact of protein source on postprandial amino acid availability and muscle protein synthesis. He also holds a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics from HAN University of Applied Sciences.
Marnix has a broad background combining research, clinical practice, and applied sports nutrition. He completed an internship at Maastricht University (M3 Research Group), a clinical dietetics internship at Sint Anna Hospital, and worked as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant alongside his studies.
His research interests include protein metabolism, amino acid kinetics, and nutritional strategies to support muscle function, performance, and metabolic health.
