She continued her academic journey at BAU with a Master of Science (MSc) in Agricultural Chemistry, earning a University Gold Medal for outstanding academic achievement. Mousumi began her academic career as a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at BAU. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2013, Associate Professor in 2019and subsequently to Professor in 2025. She has remained actively engaged in teaching, supervising MSc students, and conducting research in the field of agricultural chemistry. In 2013, she was awarded a Nuffic fellowship under the NUFFIC/NICHE-BGD-156 project, funded by the Dutch government, to pursue a sandwich PhD at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands. Her PhD research was conducted within the Soil Physics and Land Management (SLM) group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Violette Geissen, with co-supervision by Dr. Xiaomei Yang, Dr. Esperanza Huerta Lwanga, and Dr. Hans Mol. Prof. Dr. Md. Mokheslur Rahman served as her local supervisor in Bangladesh. The work provides critical baseline data for future ecotoxicological assessments and pesticide policy development in Bangladesh. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, and participated in a variety of training programs and workshops related to agricultural chemistry and environmental science. Beyond academia, Mousumi enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to Bangladeshi folk music, and traveling. Following the completion of her PhD, she intends to continue her research in the areas of pesticide residues, ecotoxicology, food chain contamination, and sustainable mitigation strategies, both in Bangladesh and internationally.
