Q (Qingyang) Hong
Biografie
Hong Qingyang completed his undergraduate studies at Tongji University and later pursued his Master's degree at Tsinghua University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Professor Francisco Alpizar Rodriguez, as Promotor, with Dr. Anna Lou Abatayo and Dr. Chen Weishan as Co-promotors.
His research focuses on municipal solid waste source separation, which plays an important role in urban circular economy systems. Waste separation effectiveness remains a challenge, particularly in communities with large floating populations. Compared to permanent urban residents, floating populations tend to demonstrate less consistent waste sorting behaviors, and this gap becomes more pronounced without ongoing manual supervision. Grounded in social identity theory, his Ph.D. work seeks to understand the behavioral mechanisms influencing waste separation among floating populations. He hopes this research can contribute to promoting sustained and accurate sorting practices, thereby supporting healthier community environments and the development of urban circular economies.
