Biografie
Raimon Ripoll-Bosch holds degrees in Agricultural Engineer and Agrifood Production Systems, and a PhD in Sustainability Assessment of Livestock Farming Systems. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Animal Production Systems group at Wageningen University & Research, where he leads research and innovation projects at international, national, and regional levels, develops educational programmes, and supervises BSc and MSc students and PhD candidates.
His research focuses on the role of livestock in sustainable agroecosystems, with particular emphasis on the complex relationships between farming, nature (including biodiversity and ecosystem services), and economic performance and incentives. Raimon’s work assesses how livestock systems can contribute to the delivery of public goods such as biodiversity conservation, resilient landscapes, cultural values, and ecosystem functioning. In that context, he also designs strategies and incentives to support the transition towards more nature-positive futures.
To address these complex challenges, he applies mixed-methods approaches that combine systems approach, sustainability assessment frameworks, transition and transformation frameworks, , statistical and optimization modelling, life cycle assessment, experimental research, and participatory methods. He has been leading the Technical Advisory Group on Ecosystem Services of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to develop international guidelines for the assessment of ecosystem services in agroecosystems.
