Computer models do not merely represent reality. Rather, they partially shape policies, in term affecting communities and ecosystems. Models are built by people and are constructed through particular ideas and with particular data. In my PhD, I explore how computer models come to be institutionalized and trusted in water management, and what that means for the knowledge that is not represented in used computer models.
My methods are rooted in Philosophy of Science (PoS), Science and Technology Studies (STS), and Political Ecology.
