My research is on mean and extreme CO₂ exchange in the Arctic-boreal zone, and how this is shifting under global warming. We look into climate extremes that are associated with extremes in CO₂ exchange (CO₂ emissions or substantially reduced uptake) at multiple locations throughout the Arctic-boreal zone. Furthermore, we use data assimilation combined with machine learning to determine the overall CO₂ budget of the Arctic-boreal zone, and how this is changing under global warming.
