Main research field

My aim is to understand the interaction between wild Solanum species and potato pathogens, in particular the late blight oomycete pathogen Phytophthora infestans, the early blight fungus Alternaria solani, and Verticillium dahliae. My studies are conducted at the interface of resistance breeding and molecular plant-microbe interaction studies. I am targeted to exploit this knowledge to achieve a more effective resistance by using multiple layers of defense.

Main fields of study: effectoromics, molecular plant-microbe interactions, plant breeding, phytopathology, functional genomics, comparative genomics.
