Wouldn’t it be great if all people would have access to a nutritious and sustainable diet?!

As a mathematical modeller, I try to contribute to this large overarching aim by cooperating with other scientists in developing models that

  1. Help nutritionists to figure out what actually is the relation between diet and health, for instance
    • Optimize the design of questionnaires that help nutritionists to find out what people actually eat (1; 2),
    • Optimize the design of trial menus that help nutritionist to find out what actually is the impact of diet on health outcomes(3; 4).
  2. Help to compose diets that are healthy and sustainable.
    • Support the protein transition (5; 6; 7; 8),
    • Reduce food waste (9),
    • Eradicate micronutrient deficiencies (8),
    • Support policymakers in low-middle income countries (10; 11).
