Head of the Department

Yvette is head of the Department of Animal Health and Welfare at Wageningen Livestock Research in Wageningen, The Netherlands. In this role she is leading a team of ~40 researchers and research assistants working in ruminant, swine, poultry and fish welfare. Previously (2008-2022) she was working as a researcher in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genomics. Her main interest is recording traits on individual animals. How is an animal - in particular the dairy cow - performing with regard to animal health, welfare, greenhouse gas emissions, efficiency. To enable this, it is important to match the biological knowledge of individual animals with sensor data recorded of animals.
