The 48th annual meeting of The British Feeding and Drinking Group (BFDG) was held in Cambridge, United Kingdom on the 4-5th of April 2024. The Sensory Science and Eating Behaviour (SSEB) Chair group once again presented research during this two day meeting which brings together scientists interested in eating behaviour and health.

Dr. Marlou Lasschuijt and Marieke van Bruinessen both gave presentations on data form the RESTRUCTURE project (www.restructure.org) in the session ‘Food Texture, Taste and Satiety’. Dr. Lasschuijt presented on ‘the consistent effect of eating rate on food and energy intake across 24 meals’. Marieke gave a presentation on ‘the sustained effect of food texture on eating rate and food intake’. PhD student Jiachun Li also presented a poster on ‘Unraveling the Influence of Food-Related Odors on Eating Behavior’ while Catoo Krale contributed to the organization of another successful Early Career Researchers session. Our recent research visitor and friend of the chair group Dimitra Zannidi, who is a PhD student from Reading University, also presented findings from her PhD project exploring eating rate and satiety in older consumers. The conference was rounded off with an excellent conference dinner in the halls of Jesus College in Cambridge University.

The team now look forward to the 49th annual BFDG meeting which will be hosted at the University of Bristol in April 2025.
