Integrating Ethics in Climate Change Education

The Anthropocene brings novel challenges both in science and education. My PhD-project focuses on dealing with value-laden topics in higher education, especially in socio-ecological topics and domains.

In my project I map the different philosophical approaches to dealing with socio-ecological problems and how these translate to curricula and educational practices. In doing this, I aim to bridge a gap between educational sciences and philosophy. Bridging this gap means conceptual work, therefore the first part of my project which is providing a taxonomy of normative paradigms in dealing with socio-ecological problems. It also means looking at practice, the second part of my project focuses on empirically mapping the ways in which these paradigms come about in education at the WUR. The interdisciplinary nature of my research is reflected in my affiliation with both the ELS and the PHI group. For further inquiries about my project, please do not hesitate to contact me.
