Introduction

The Health Research Unit of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) offers unique opportunities for clinical trials of various foods and supplements. This allows for thoroughly researching and scientifically substantiating the (health) effects of products and ingredients. We conduct this in both short-term absorption experiments and longitudinal studies.

What can you do a the Health Research Unit?

Activities

Companies and organizations in the food industry use the facility for short-term and longitudinal clinical studies (from a few hours to months). The unit has the facilities for complete monitoring of the participants' diets. We also conduct in vitro and in vivo research on nutrient absorption, such as amino acids from various protein sources. The clinical studies can be conducted both individually and in groups, at home and in our controlled facilities.

The Health Research Unit has a database of 4,000 participants. These come from a wide range of backgrounds. We can therefore recruit participants more efficiently, by targeting specific groups, quickly assembling a representative sample, and gaining a thorough understanding of nutritional effects.

Who is the Health Research Unit intended for?

For who

Food and nutrition companies, supplement developers and research organizations are all welcome at the Health Research Unit. If you seek to gather clinical evidence on ingredient efficacy, nutrient absorption or assimilation in broad populations or specific target groups, this is the place to conduct your research.
